The Department of the Navy Military Sealift Command awarded a $823,063 firm-fixed price purchase order to Lake Shore Systems, Inc. of Kingsford, Michigan. The order is for 65 line items of stern ramp parts for the USNS Burlingon, a Lewis and Clark-class dry cargo ship operated by the Military Sealift Command. Items include hydraulic motors, seals, bushings, pins, sheaves, cylinders, valves and accumulators to maintain compatibility with existing shipboard configurations. Funding comes from the Navy's fiscal year 2023 Working Capital Fund. As the original equipment manufacturer, Lake Shore Systems was awarded the contract on a sole-source basis due to its specialized expertise and ability to provide parts meeting form, fit and function requirements for the Burlington. No set aside designation applied to this requirement to sustain the readiness of the command's strategic sealift assets.
