Added: Jul 21, 2016 3:48 pm The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Western Ecological Research Center, Dixon, CA has a requirement to track skunks and raccoons in order to assess movement, habitat use, and their role as a mesopredator in Suisun Marsh. To accomplish this we require the following GPS logger specifications: Collar dimensions need to fit our study species, which requires a minimum collar circumference of 14 cm and maximum collar circumference of 35 cm. Collar circumferences can be 14-25 cm (skunks) or 20-35 cm (raccoons) The tag needs to be approximately 3% or less of body weight, so the maximum tag is mass for skunks is approximately 65 g and an even smaller tag of A minimum of 3 month transmitter lifespan (BUT MUST LAST > 45 days) Sampling every 15 min for > 15 hours per day VHF add-on UHF remote download Reasonable distance range for collar download Collar dimensions that fit our species range: 14 ¿ 35 cm Option to add a remote release/drop off function This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR subpart 12.6 and 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. We can use a collar up to 150 g for raccoons, although smaller is preferable. SPECS for Skunks Transmitters: Collar dimensions need to fit our study species, which requires a collar of 14 ¿ 25 cm for skunks.
