The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) awarded a $49,829 firm fixed price purchase order to General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems Division for a PA1000 preamplifier discriminator assembly. The assembly is a critical component used in USU's TRIGA Mark F nuclear reactor located at its campus in Bethesda, Maryland. As the sole manufacturer and distributor of this assembly, which is required to guarantee functionality for the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute reactor, General Atomics was selected on a sole source basis in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation Part 13 for simplified acquisitions. The assembly will support USU's education and research programs for training military medical professionals. No subcontractors or set aside designations were associated with this Department of Defense contract awarded by USU, an agency dedicated to excellence in military medicine and public health.
