This contract was awarded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to Advanced Scientific Concepts, LLC, a small business, to develop the Ultra-Compact Modular Flash LIDAR (UCML). The UCML will leverage the high-technology readiness level (TRL) design of the OSIRIS-REx LIDAR but be redesigned to be more configurable, compact, and robust. The goal is to produce a cost-effective LIDAR system that can be easily adapted for various space missions such as sample capture, entry, descent, and landing (EDL), and guidance, navigation, and control (GN&C) activities, with minimal requalification. The $124,045.00 firm fixed price contract is for a Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) effort.
