Creare LLC, a small business engineering research and development company, was awarded a $124,938 firm fixed price Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Shared Services Center. The contract is for the development of an advanced, high-efficiency turbine for Brayton cycle cryocoolers that can provide cooling at temperatures from 4 to 10 Kelvin to support future NASA astrophysics missions such as the Lynx X-ray Observatory, the Origins Space Telescope, and the Superconducting Gravity Gradiometer. This low-vibration cryocooler technology is critical for enabling highly sensitive scientific instruments on these potential future space missions.
