Composite Technology Development, Inc. (CTD), a small business, was awarded a $124,960.00 firm fixed price purchase order by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to advance the state-of-the-art in deployable low-frequency antenna technology for small satellites. The contract is part of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I program and requires CTD to develop system requirements, demonstrate the feasibility of elastic memory composite antenna booms, and build prototypes of the booms and deployment mechanism. The technology enables antennas to be stowed in a small volume and deployed smoothly without shock or the need for actuators. This contract supports NASA's efforts to enable advanced communication capabilities for small satellite missions.
