Redwire Space Inc., doing business as Made In Space, was awarded a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program Phase I contract by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Shared Services Center. The $124,224 firm fixed-price contract supports the development of the Glass Alloy Manufacturing Machine (GAMMA), an experimental system designed to investigate the manufacture of specialty glasses in the microgravity environment of the International Space Station (ISS). The goal is to advance in-space manufacturing capabilities and inform future commercial product development by studying the behavior of glass materials without the effects of gravity. This contract builds on Redwire Space's prior SBIR-funded work with NASA developing additive manufacturing and hybrid fabrication technologies for use in space.
