Giner Inc., a small business based in Auburndale, Massachusetts, was awarded a $124,977 firm-fixed-price contract from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to develop an electrochromic space suit helmet visor prototype. The contract is part of NASA's Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. Giner will leverage flexible transparent electrodes and new electrochromic polymers to deliver a visor prototype with high optical contrast, rapid switching, and low power requirements. This will integrate with NASA's next-generation space suit helmet design, providing enhanced tintability, radiation protection, and optimized transmittance for astronauts performing extravehicular activities. The contract has a completion date of February 15, 2019.
