Heron Systems, Inc. was awarded a $124,745 firm-fixed-price Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Shared Services Center. The contract is focused on research and development of GLUE, a decentralized virtual auctioneer framework that enables autonomous resource and task allocation of coordinated, heterogeneous unmanned assets. This work aims to leverage existing or emerging unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to support disaster relief efforts, such as search and rescue operations, through collaborative autonomous capabilities. The proposed solution builds upon Heron Systems' existing Multi-Agent Cooperative Engagement (MACE) framework to provide a robust, vehicle-agnostic platform that can integrate with various commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) unmanned systems. This SBIR Phase I effort will demonstrate the feasibility of the GLUE concept through software algorithm research and development in a simulation environment.
