The Department of Health and Human Services National Institutes of Health National Institute on Drug Abuse awarded a $241,407.00 firm fixed price purchase order to Becton, Dickinson And Company (BD), a global medical technology company, for the acquisition of a fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) Melody system. This FACS system will be primarily used by the Behavioral Neuroscience Research Branch to isolate fluorescently labeled cells and nuclei from the brain to assess molecular and cellular alterations in animal models of drug addiction research. The contract does not have a set-aside designation. BD, through its BD Biosciences division, has extensive experience providing specialized biomedical research equipment and reagents to various federal agencies, including the Department of Veterans Affairs, the National Institutes of Health, and the Department of Defense.
