1.3 Product Capabilities & Salient Characteristics or equal:
The all-in-one system requested will make possible confocal, high-throughput, live-cell and whole-section imaging of cells and tissue in a single, self-contained, dynamic system. Its addition will expand and advance current imaging capabilities of the VA Research, to include high-resolution fluorescence, differential interference contrast, IR-differential interference contrast, phase contrast, relief contrast, simple polarized, brightfield, and darkfield observation methods of normal and diseased tissues and cells. A strength of the BZ-X810 system is its versatility it can accommodate a variety of specimen holders, including slides, dishes, and well plates, making it ideal for a multitude of studies that span fluorescent imaging of cellular/molecular phenotype to whole slide imaging of normal vs. diseased organ tissue in small animal models. This system is also well equipped for live cell imaging over many hours-days, making possible long-term observation of changes in cellular phenotype at a frame rate of 95 fps, as well as functional molecular/cellular assays. With a built-in dark room environment and compact footprint, the BZ-X810 will be an economical and practical addition to the VA Imaging & Microscopy Core, which is a Shared Resource Facility providing multiple types of shared instrumentation.
Fully enclosed, inverted-type microscope with the following features:
Compact frame
Built-in darkroom (fully-contained stage) necessary for fluorescent imaging
This system will be installed in a Shared Resource Facility where a darkroom environment cannot be maintained due to the use of other equipment in the space. The instrument must have a fully contained stage, achievable without the addition/removal of a separate apparatus, as this is not practical for shared instrumentation that will be used daily by numerous investigators.
Built-in vibration dampening system to reduce fluorescent blurring and background introduced by external noise
Observation methods: fluorescence (blue, green ultraviolet excitations), differential interference contrast, IR-differential interference contrast, phase contrast, relief contrast, simple polarized light, brightfield, darkfield, live-cell
High resolution observation deep into live cells
Multi-stack module for full automation of z-stacking and for seamlessly stitching whole sections
Sectioning module for optical sectioning, to produce confocal-quality images
Time-lapse module for stage-top incubation to control temperature, CO2, and humidity and image over hours-days with focus tracking and the ability to change capture conditions including location of interest, exposure time, focus, z stack, lens magnifications and filters
Live-cell incubator and imaging
Tokai hit 5% CO2 system for optimal, controlled stage-top incubation of samples (including multi-well plates) and live-cell imaging with video recording at a frame rate of 95 fps
Integrated workstation with software for analysis
General analysis module for post-imaging adjustments (deconvolution, annotations, etc.)
Hybrid cell counting module for quantification of cells, measurements of area, brightness (intensity of excitation), major axis, minor axis, etc. using brightfield, phase and fluorescence imaging
Macro cell counting module for quantification of up to 400 fields of view at a single time and for automatic counting on multiple image files in a batch under the same condition based on a user-tailored conditions file; must also be compatible with live-cell imaging for high-precision quantification of video and time lapse recordings
Measurement module for 3D rendering, 3D measurement and volumetric analysis
Optical sectioning module for customization of structured light projections and rasterization of these patterns across each focal plane, allowing for subtraction of out-of-focus fluorescence light and optimal signal output for high resolution 3D models
Ability to integrate with Akoya s CODEX technology for high-parameter (> 40 markers) imaging and analysis
Training and support
Onsite training upon installation
Follow-up onsite training for advanced applications, 3-6 months after installation
Training, as needed, for the lifetime of the microscope
The product capabilities and salient characteristics identified above by a brand name or equal" description are intended to be descriptive, not restrictive, and to indicate the quality and characteristics of the product that will be satisfactory.
