The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) awarded a $225,000.00 firm fixed-price purchase order contract to Roche Diagnostics Corporation, doing business as Roche Diagnostics Corp, a foreign-owned, for-profit manufacturer of in vitro diagnostics, reagents, laboratory instruments, and associated products and services.
The contract is for the provision of a Roche H&E (Hematoxylin and Eosin) 600 Stainer, an automated special stain stainer, and associated services to the VA's James J. Peters VA Medical Center in Bronx, New York. This sole-source award was made under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1 based on the determination that the Roche H&E 600 Stainer is the only equipment capable of meeting the agency's needs for the Anatomy Pathology Laboratory. The contract has a period of performance through December 30, 2022 and does not include any small business set-aside designation.
