This is a $467,881 research grant awarded by NASA's Shared Services Center to the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) to explore three-dimensional microphysical processes in Titan's atmosphere. The grant will fund the coupling of the Community Aerosol and Radiation Model for Atmospheres (CARMA) with the Titan Weather Research and Forecasting (TitanWRF) model to provide new insights on the role of dynamics versus microphysics in the appearance and composition of Titan's atmospheric particles. The research aims to address the chemical composition of particles in Titan's stratosphere, their impact on atmospheric heat and momentum transfer, and the vertical mixing of methane. This grant is not set aside and supports NASA's Solar System Workings (SSW) program goals. SwRI, an independent nonprofit research institute, has a strong track record of securing federal research contracts and grants across various government agencies.
