The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) awarded a $433,954.61 grant to the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) to support the operations and data analysis for the 3D Plasma and Energetic Particle Investigation (3DP) instrument on the WIND spacecraft. The 3DP instrument, led by Professor Stuart D. Bale, the Principal Investigator, consists of electrostatic analyzers and semiconductor telescopes to measure 3D electron and proton energy distributions. This grant, which does not have a set-aside designation, was awarded on June 13, 2017, with a period of performance through January 31, 2020. As a public research university, UC Berkeley conducts a wide range of research and development activities for various federal agencies, including NASA and the Department of Defense, through contract and grant awards.
