This is a $749,980 Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract awarded by NASA's Shared Services Center to Advr, Inc., a small business based in Bozeman, Montana. The overall goal of this effort is to develop a three-wavelength, backscatter transceiver for in-situ validation of ongoing high spectral resolution lidar (HSRL) measurements. The key innovation is the use of a multi-element, non-linear waveguide for efficient, three-wavelength generation in a collinear geometry suited for use in a backscatter nephelometer. This in-situ instrument will validate the remote sensing HSRL measurements and further inform climate models through more accurate estimates of atmospheric aerosol distributions. The contract has a firm fixed price and was awarded under a total small business set-aside.
