This is a $754,220 Firm Fixed Price contract awarded by NASA's Shared Services Center to Spectral Sciences, Inc., a small business, for the development of an Electrospray Propulsion Engineering Toolkit (ESPET). ESPET is a multi-scale engineering tool that extends experimental and high-level physics characterization of microfluidic components to full-scale electrospray propulsion system performance. The contract is part of NASA's SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) program, Phase II. The goal is to accelerate the development of scaled-up electrospray propulsion systems with practical thrust levels by creating a central database of critical microfluidic properties and analytical models for the various system components. This will allow electrospray system engineers to efficiently narrow down the design trade space and reduce development time. The contract period of performance runs through October 2018.
