This is a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II contract awarded by NASA's Shared Services Center to Microlink Devices Inc., a minority-owned and Asian-Pacific American-owned small business manufacturer. The $900,000.00 contract is for the development of a manufacturable production process to introduce backside contacts to microlink devices for large-area, multi-junction epitaxial lift-off (ELO) solar cells. This will enable cost reduction through automated laydown and interconnect of solar panels. The new backside contact ELO solar cell technology has potential benefits for future NASA Solar Electric Propulsion (SEP) programs using very large solar cell arrays. The contract is set aside for small businesses.
