The U.S. Department of the Navy's Bureau of Medicine and Surgery awarded a $7,465,000 firm fixed price contract to Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Inc. for the delivery of six high-speed immunochemistry screening analyzer systems to support the Department of Defense Drug Demand Reduction Program. The contract has no set-aside designation. The systems will be deployed across five military drug testing laboratories to process urine specimens and transmit results to the Drug Demand Reduction Program Laboratory Information Management System. The contract also includes an option for seven additional lower throughput analyzer systems to further expand capacity at existing and new locations.
