The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) awarded a $2,872,383.00 definitive contract to Cornell University to develop architectures and design tools that enable system-on-chip (SoC) designers to safeguard hardware against all seven known classes of hardware vulnerabilities listed in the Common Weakness Enumeration (CWE) that can be exploited through software. This contract, which does not have a set-aside designation, is part of DARPA's System Security Integrated Through Hardware and Firmware (SSITH) program and will be performed in Ithaca, New York. Cornell University, a private research university, has a history of providing research, engineering, and technical services to various government agencies, including the Department of Agriculture, Department of Defense, Department of Energy, and NASA, through both contracts and grants.
