This is a $754,766 Firm Fixed Price, Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract awarded by NASA to Lignamed, LLC, a small disadvantaged business. The contract is for Lignamed to develop LGM2605, an oral small molecule drug, as a radiation mitigating agent to protect against the harmful effects of space radiation exposure during long-duration missions, such as a future manned mission to Mars. The contract aims to evaluate LGM2605's ability to mitigate space radiation-induced carcinogenesis and tissue degeneration in an in vivo model. This award builds on Lignamed's prior NASA-funded Phase I SBIR research showing LGM2605's effectiveness in mitigating radiation toxicity in cell-based studies.
