This is a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract awarded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Shared Services Center to Creare LLC, a small business engineering and research and development company. The contract has a potential value of $749,951 and is for the development of a low-cost cryocooler control electronics package to support future small spacecraft missions. Many of NASA's future space science missions will utilize small spacecraft, which have technical requirements for cryocoolers that are challenging compared to traditional satellite cryocoolers. The contract involves close collaboration with subcontractors Lockheed Martin Corporation and Wecoso, Inc. to fabricate and qualify protoflight electronics that can interface with cryocoolers and space platforms. Successful completion of this SBIR Phase II contract will enable advanced sensor systems for cost-constrained space science, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions.
