This is a cooperative agreement awarded by the Shared Services Center of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to the Planetary Science Institute (PSI), a non-profit research organization, for the purpose of curating and archiving data related to small bodies in the solar system such as comets, asteroids, meteorites, and near-Earth objects. The total potential value of the contract is $5,303,331.77, with a period of performance through December 6, 2021. The contract does not have a set-aside designation, indicating it was competed on an unrestricted basis.
Under this agreement, PSI will serve as the lead node for archiving data from NASA's OSIRIS-REx mission as well as data from the dust instruments on the Cassini and LADEE missions. PSI will also archive data from ongoing planetary science missions like Dawn, Rosetta, New Horizons, Hayabusa-2, and OSIRIS-REx, and provide search capabilities and scientific analysis tools to the broader small bodies research community. This work aligns with NASA's strategic goals of expanding human knowledge through space exploration and scientific discovery.
