About Guam Preservation Trust

The Guam Preservation Trust (GPT) is a non-profit public corporation dedicated to preserving Guam's historic sites and culture. It seeks outside grants and donations to acquire threatened properties for preservation. The GPT awards grants for historic preservation efforts across the island territory.

Guam Preservation Trust has received several federal grant awards from the Department of the Interior's Office of Insular Affairs to support preservation initiatives on Guam. In 2021, GPT was awarded a $200,000 Project Grant under the Economic, Social, and Political Development of the Territories program (CFDA 15.875) for the "Atantano Heritage Preserve Natural & Cultural Resource Project." This three-year grant funds efforts through September 2024 to strengthen protections for Guam's natural and cultural resources at the Atantano Heritage Preserve. Additionally, in 2019 GPT received a $63,217 Project Grant from Insular Affairs for the "GUAM PRESERVATION TRUST - WORLD HERITAGE TRAINING AND WORKSHOP OPPORTUNITIES" program, supporting training and workshops related to world heritage site preservation through September 2023. The federal grants enable GPT to execute its core mission of acquiring and maintaining properties of historical significance across Guam.
