All documentation shall become the property of the Government. Unless otherwise stated herein, no additional information is available. PURPOSE The AFLCMC/WKDM Program Office, Tinker AFB, OK, is conducting market research to determine the cost and schedule for procuring a replacement for its current engine ignition starter (EIS) switch. The purpose of this procurement would be to replace the existing EIS switch with a quick-connect, fully encapsulated switch. DESCRIPTION Each C/KC-135 has four EIS switches located inside the pilot instrument panel. With the current EIS switch design, mechanical movements at the back of the switch are not enclosed and are exposed to debris that may jam and damage the switch. The switch is also difficult to maintain because of the difficulty in soldering wires to the switch within the confined space behind the pilot instrument panel. The switch is NSN 5930011724092. AFLCMC/WKDM would like to mitigate these issues by procuring a fully encapsulated switch, protecting it from debris, which can be quickly disconnected to provide access for maintenance. The new switch must be interface compliant with the existing aircraft configuration. The design should meet all requirements delineated in SAE AS50881for soldering, crimping, and internal wiring. DISCLAIMERThis RFI is issued solely for information and planning purposes and does not constitute a solicitation. In accordance with FAR 15.201(e), responses to this notice are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. Respondents are solely responsible for all expenses associated with responding to this RFI. Responses to this RFI will not be returned. Respondents will not be notified of the result of the review.
