Update #1 ·
Added: May 17, 2017 9:26 am
The US Naval Research Laboratory (NRL ) anticipates awarding a contract for a high performance commercial Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) sensor from Advanced Scientific Concepts LLC on a Other Than Full and Open basis. The LIDAR hardware to be acquired by the supplier is unique in the coupling of designed use and operating environment for which there is no comparable competitive product within a reasonable price range.
NRL needs a low cost, high performance LIDAR Camera system for use on relatively small objects (12m, not 20 acres) at altitudes of 10,000m in an atmosphere in which both the sensor platform and the target will have relative motion. The exact hardware required is a combined Illuminator Laser and Sensor Engine package as is standard for any commercial LIDAR system. Also standard are additional modular kits for altering view factor, range, and resolution parameters. In this case, from Advanced Scientific Concepts we will be acquiring 3 items; the Tigercub 3D Flash Camera (sensor engine) with the associated Zephyr laser (illuminator) and the 3 degree Field of view (FOV) kit which sets key range parameters. Delivery needs to be within 16 weeks of contract execution in order to meet schedule goals for testing, installation and operational use during 4th quarter of 2017.
