Develop solid state additive processes for structural repairs of aluminum and steel
structures. Powder heat treatment and laser-assisted cold spray (LACS) will be used to improve
the mechanical properties of cold spray-based repairs of aluminum alloy structures. Solid state
structural repairs using additive friction stir deposition will be assessed for microstructure and
mechanical properties. LACS will also be applied to high strength naval steels in a laboratory
environment. Awarded contract N00014-21-C-1036 to University of Alabama for 1009234 on 2021-07-14T14:29:14.
