About this opportunity
The Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking to procure a high-efficiency, low-noise single photon detection system through a Request for Quotation (RFQ) using simplified acquisition procedures for commercial items under FAR Part 13. The system must include a minimum of four single-photon sensors capable of detecting photons between 1000 nm and 2000 nm, optimized for telecom photons, with key requirements including an operating temperature of 0.8K or lower, dark count rate of 50 cps or lower, recovery time under 100 ns, and timing jitter under 100 ps FWHM. The system must support upgrades to up to 8 detectors. Quotations are due by 11:00 AM Eastern Time on June 18, 2024, and NIST intends to award a single purchase order to the responsible offeror whose quotation is the lowest priced and technically acceptable.
This is a full and open competition, with the associated NAICS code 334516 - Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing. There is no set-aside designation, and the place of performance is Gaithersburg, MD 20899, USA. Payment will be made in full upon acceptance after on-site testing and inspection, and a 1-year warranty is required.
