About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure 21 explosive sequencers (NSN 1R-1377-011274309-GF) with delivery FOB origin. This pre-solicitation notice indicates a highly specialized procurement requiring Government source approval prior to contract award, as the item is considered flight critical. The opportunity is being solicited under FAR 6.302-1, which allows negotiation with a single source, though all responsible sources may express interest within 45 days of publication. Potential vendors must submit comprehensive technical data and source approval information according to NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS) Source Approval Information Brochures. Offers will be evaluated based on meeting qualification requirements, with the government retaining sole discretion to determine competitive procurement approach.
The pre-solicitation notice does not indicate a specific set-aside designation, and no incumbent contractors are named. While the exact award value is not specified, the procurement involves 21 units of a specialized explosive sequencing device. The solicitation allows for potential award through an existing Basic Ordering Agreement (BOA), with a shortened 30-day response window in such cases. Vendors must demonstrate technical capability and obtain Government source approval, which can be a complex and time-consuming process. The procurement is time-sensitive, with the government indicating that fleet support needs may drive award decisions even if complete source approval cannot be processed in the standard timeframe. Interested parties can obtain additional technical documentation through DODSSP and ASSIST-Online resources.
