THE BELOW IS PROVIDED REGARDING ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS AND ARE PROVIDED FOR PURPOSES OF CLARIFICATION.
However, he did add another concern.... as follows quote........"the material for 6407375 states: Polymer, IPC-5000, TY-IPC-5304. I am assuming this is some type of plastic, but all the plastic houses are not quoting because they cannot identify what this material is. Can you offer a more complete description?"
ANS: I reached out to our In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) to get more information on the polymer and this is the information that they were able to provide:
"The impeller seal rings were made from Ryton which was the previous name of HY101 Alton polymer made by Hoerbiger America.
That is the required material.
Material may be procurable from them, however pressing the ring onto the ring is problematic. If that's what you have in mind. Proper tolerancing and an understand of the stresses associated with installing the plastic on the ring is necessary.
THIS AMENDMENT EXTENDS THE CLOSE UNTIL 12/20/17 AS THE REQUIREMENT IS EXPECTED TO BE INCREASED BASED ON ADDITIONAL PROJECT INFORMATION BECOMING KNOWN. ALL OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS REMAIN UNCHANGED. THE GOVERNMENT EXPECTS TO CHANGE THE REQUIREMENT ONE IT IS FIRMED UP AND FINALIZED.

THE CLOSE IS DELAYED UNTIL 13 DECEMBER WHILE THE GOVERNMENT CONTINUES TO RESOLVE UNANSWERED QUESTIONS REGARDING THIS PROCUREMENT. ITEMS (1) AND (2) BELOW ARE PROVIDED AS CLARIFICATIONS BASED ON QUESTIONS SUBMITTED BY OTHER INTERESTED PARTIES REGARDING THIS SOLICITATION.
1). Drawing # 6407375 Seal Ring states in note # 4 that additional machining is required at next assembly. What is the next assembly and is there additional machining we need to do on this part?
ANS: Drawing # 6407373 is the next assembly and it also shows the additional machining that is required (Page 2 and 3 of drawing # 6407373).
2). Drawing 6407373 shows (16) .4134/.404 thru holes w/ .625 dia. milled slots. They appear to correlate w/ the .414/.404 holes in 6407374. Are we supposed to mill the slots and mill the face grooves shown on drawing 6407373 into 6407374? Is this done after assembly by others?
ANS: The (16) .4134/.404 thru holes w/ .625 dia. milled slots that you are referring to on Page 2 of drawing # 6407373 are part of the additional machining that is required for drawing # 6407375.
THE GOVERNMENT IS CURRENTLY ATTEMPTING TO IDENTFY WHAT IS MEANT ON THE DRAWNG BY, "THE MATERIAL FOR 6407375 STATES: POLYMER, IPC-5000, TY-IPC-5304.
PLEASE ADVISE IF ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS SHOULD ARISE.
