ROCK CREEK 3: ROCK CREEK FUELS AND SUBLETT FUELS PROJECTS - CUT AND HAND PILE CONTRACT 2018
IN APPROXIMATELY 1 DAY, THE SOLICITATION FOR THIS COMMERCIAL SERVICE PROJECT WILL BE AVAILABLE TO VIEW AND PRINT.
SCOPE OF WORK
The purpose of this contract is to hand thin and hand pile in the treatment units described in this contract to remove suppressed, diseased, damaged, and poorly formed trees in order to restore forest health and resistance/resilience to wildfire. Piling of cut and downed material while leaving larger coarse woody debris will reduce fuel loading while maintaining Forest Plan Standards. Snags (dead/dying trees) that may pose a threat to firefighters or the public (those near fuel breaks, roads, recreation sites) will be removed while retaining those that likely will not pose risk for wildlife habitat. Aspen, ponderosa pine, and Douglas-fir will not be cut (where they exist) to encourage both biodiversity and fire-adapted species.
The Rock Creek Project aims to restore forest health and diversity, fire-resistance/fire-resilience, and reduce the risk of wildfire negatively impacting the Rock Creek Recreation Complex. Thinning forest stands will reduce ladder fuels and fuel continuity, resulting in decreased crown fire risk and improving firefighter and public safety.
The Environmental Analysis prepared for the project outlines design specifications for treatments that will result in desired conditions found within the Sawtooth National Forest Plan. These specifications (described in this document in detail) will allow for removal of suppressed, poorly-formed, damaged and diseased trees while maintaining coarse-woody debris levels and wildlife snags. Additional piling of ground fuels where uncharacteristic build-up has occurred will also be required to create adequate fuel loading levels to alter surface fire behavior.
CONTACT STEVE CLEZIE AT (208) 737-3256 FOR MORE INFORMATION.
CONTRACT TIME WILL BE 140 calendar days with an estimated start date of 07/15/2018 with a completion date of November 30, 2018. NAICS Code: 115310 Size Standard: $7.5. This proposed procurement is a TOTAL SMALL BUSINESS set-aside.
