The project area is divided into three sections. The project area is accessed by traveling west from the town of Vallecitos for approximately 3.5 miles on Forest Road (FR) 44. The first and third sections are adjacent to the first service system road. The second section may be walk-in access depending on the site conditions. Added: Feb 02, 2010 6:51 pm RECOVERY: This project is funded by the American Recovery And Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The appropriate ARRA clauses are attached and will be applicable to any resulting contract award.



The project is located in the El Rito Ranger District (Rio Arriba County), P O Box 56, El Rito, NM 87530. The statement of work consists of thinning 131 acres of primarily Ponderosa Pine and some White fir and, Douglas fir, trees to silvicultural prescription. Slopes are flat to moderately steep. The number of cut trees during the treatment is estimated to range from 200 to 1000 trees per acre.
