1. Contract Title. Mouse Genotyping Service

2. Background.

The science achieved in the Hutchens lab relies on small animal research. There are multiple mouse models and mouse genotypes required to perform the work. Understanding the mouse genotype is vital for scientific rigor during experiments as well as for breeding and colony maintenance. This contract is required for mouse genotyping. Genotyping is required the following mouselines:

LRP2fl/fl Ndrg1creERT2

Csrp3fl/fl

Other mouselines may be added.

3. Scope.

The general scale of work covered by this contract is the receiving and processing of samples, and communicating genotyping results produced from the analysis for mouse genotypes. In short it is for a service and the service is genotyping. It is unknown if the work is performed across the building or VISN, this contract is for the Hutchens lab specific use. Different labs may rely on different processes for genotyping strains.

4. Specific Tasks.

Task 1: real time PCR genotyping of all strains including transgenic and knock-out, knock-in mutations, single nucleotide polymorphisms

Taqman based assay with primer and 2 fluorescent labeled proves for real time PCR detection

Duplicate allele testing including housekeeping gene

2/3 sample storage for retesting

Results in 72 hours

Results delivered online

Task 2: assay

Access to assay database

Assay design

Assay development

Task 3: genetic monitoring

Other: shipping costs, shipping supplies, including wellplate and account access and account support.

5. Performance Monitoring (if applicable).

Contractor performance will be monitored by intermittent comparison of PCR results between the Contractor and lab PCR tests.

6. Security Requirements.

The contractor employees shall not have access to VA sensitive or computer information and will not require routine access to VA Facilities.
