Update #1 ·
Added: Aug 26, 2016 2:24 pm The purpose of the Tornado contract is to reduce the amount of hazardous fuels on 221 acres of Forest Service Lands that are adjacent to rural residences, and to utilize blow down timber and thinned materials for local firewood markets. This will be accomplished by a combination of Sawtimber, Non-sawtimber, Wind Thrown, Down Woody Debris, Biomass and Slash treatments. Treatments include felling, yarding/skidding, of sawtimber, non-sawtimber, and wind thrown material to a landing. At the landing all material will be de-limbed, processed and decked (for firewood products) and the slash will be piled. No products will be removed in this contract and Forest Service road 251A will not be improved in order to facilitate log trucks/hauling. All designated Biomass and Down Woody Debris material will be masticated. Designated non-sawtimber will be masticated in the units were it is NOT a requirement to deck the logs.
