About this opportunity
The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking solutions to replace an obsolete VHF radio communication system with a modern TETRA-based system utilizing the Astrid network. The RFI, identified by reference number RFI-06484, is associated with the Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security and was posted on January 28, 2025, with a response deadline of March 31, 2025. The agency is soliciting unclassified information from potential vendors about communication system capabilities, functionalities, and potential procurement options. Responses are voluntary and will not prejudice or exclude companies from future procurement opportunities. The RFI specifically targets radio and wireless communications equipment manufacturers within the relevant NAICS category.
Contractors interested in responding must provide comprehensive details including their firm's name, contact information, point of contact, and an unclassified description of available capabilities and system functionalities. The RFI requires vendors to disclose any potential export control restrictions and requests non-binding pricing information. The objective is to identify solutions that can provide secure, interoperable communication systems with full outdoor coverage for specific NATO facilities, support multiple radio platforms, and accommodate future technological migrations. Contractors must submit their responses by 12:00 pm Brussels time on March 14, 2025, using the email address specified in the attachment. Importantly, NATO emphasizes that this RFI is purely informational and does not constitute a commitment to future procurement, and vendors will not be reimbursed for expenses incurred in preparing their responses. The agency is seeking a comprehensive understanding of potential technological solutions that can modernize their communication infrastructure.
