Update #3 · Latest ·

Added: Feb 02, 2017 2:55 pm Modified: Feb 07, 2017 10:46 amTrack Changes Amendment 0001 Effective 2/7/17. The purpose for amendment 0001 is for Q&A, All other terms and conditions

remain

unchanged.

01 Question: Can you please provide more specific details regarding the

requirement

for "CABLES FOR CONNECTING ANTENNA TO ANTENNA CONTROLLER?" What cable

lengths should be assumed for the quotation?

01 Answer: 25' of weatherproof cable with ends terminated such that it can

connect the

above decks equipment and below decks equipment as necessary for the particular

system that the vendor is proposing. The cable type should be specified in

accordance

with RF engineering commercial best practices regarding acceptable insertion

loss and

impedance matching for the length and frequency that will be used for that

individual

system that a vendor is proposing.

I.E. if separate RX, TX and antenna control cabling is necessary to connect

above decks

equipment to below decks equipment than the purchase should include a

terminated 25'

of cable for each RX, TX and antenna control. If only a single cable is

required than only

a single terminated 25' cable need be provided.

Question 02: Does the Government want the LMR400 cables typically used for the

TX and

RX runs from the ADE to the BDE/ACU? Usually a spare cable is also included -

should

this be quoted as well?

Answer 02: I would be hesitant to indicate that a spare cable should be

included as this

was not in the original specifications. Also I am hesitant to say what type of

cable as

many types could be appropriate for this use case, but LMR 400 is a good choice

providing it is impedance matched and weather proof.
