About this opportunity
The USDA Agricultural Research Service in Athens, Georgia is seeking to procure a benchtop flow cell sorter, specifically a MACSQuant Tyto or comparable instrument, for use at the US National Poultry Research Center. The required equipment must feature three on-board lasers (405 nm, 488 nm, and 638 nm at 100 mW each), multiple emission detectors at specified wavelengths, two-way closed cartridge sorting capabilities, temperature control, and instrument control software. Additionally, the procurement requires a minimum one-year renewable service contract to accompany the equipment. The government will evaluate proposals based on both price and technical capability, with award anticipated to go to the most advantageous vendor under a firm fixed-price contract structure. Questions regarding this solicitation are due by 1:00 p.m. ET on August 20, 2025, with quotations due by 5:00 p.m. ET on August 21, 2025.
There appears to be conflicting information in the documentation regarding set-aside designation, with one document indicating this is a small business set-aside under NAICS code 334516 (Analytical Equipment Manufacturing) with a 1,000-employee size standard, while another suggests it may be full and open competition. No incumbent contractors or current service providers are identified in the solicitation materials, and no specific budget ranges or award values are disclosed by the government. The procurement involves a single unit of analytical equipment with delivery required within 30 days after receipt of order. Performance will take place at the government facility in Athens, Georgia, and interested vendors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) and include their UEI number in their quotations, which must remain valid for at least 60 days.
