About this opportunity
This Special Notice seeks information for a two-person backpack-mounted portable time-domain electromagnetic system. The publishing agency is the Department of the Interior US Geological Survey Office of Acquisitions and Grants.
The purpose of this Special Notice is to solicit industry responses with information about a LOUPE TEM system by January 3, 2024. The system should allow for rapid data collection at walking pace in remote locations, mapping the uppermost 40-60 meters below ground. Recorded data must be sufficiently calibrated and described to quantitatively interpret subsurface electrical resistivity using commercial or open-source software. Firms are advised this is not a solicitation, and all costs of providing the requested information are the responsibility of the responding firm. Responses should be emailed to the point of contact provided, who is a contracting officer with the USGS Denver Federal Center.
Notice text
The Request for Information (RFI) is a two-person backpack-mounted portable time-domain electromagnetic system. Transmitter and receiver packs each way less than 12 kg, allowing rapid data collection at walking pace in remote locations. The time-domain system has a transmitter with sufficient power (approximately 100 Ampere-turns-m^2) and turn-off time (approximately 9 microseconds) to generate signals that allow for mapping of the uppermost 40-60 m below ground, with configurable base-frequency for different geological settings. The receiver consists of a three-component coil with 100 kHz bandwidth. Data recording is controlled by a tablet, and GPS is integrated with the system to provide positioning information in real-time. Recorded data are sufficiently calibrated and described so that they can be quantitatively interpreted using commercial and/or open-source software to produce models of subsurface electrical resistivity.
Requests for information and subsequent responses may be emailed to the point-of-contact specified below. Firms are cautioned that this is not a solicitation. All costs associated with providing information as requested by this Notice shall be the responsibility of the responding firm.
