Notice text

This is a Notice of Intent, not a request for a quotation. A solicitation document will not be issued and quotations will not be requested.

The National Institute of Health, Clinical Center (CC) intends to award a Firm-Fixed price purchase order to Oxford Nanopore Technologies, Cambridge, MA 02139 on a sole source basis to procure the GridION Starter Pack. The pack includes sequencing kits, flow cells and instrument service. These requirements are needed in order for the Clinical Center practitioners and researchers to support research and development applications in the NIH CC Microbiology Lab. Oxford Nanopore Technologies is the only known company that can provide proprietary technology that determines nucleic acid sequence based on their direct interaction with protein-based nanopore. As a result, nucleic acid sequence can be determined in real time as the molecule interacts with the pore and GridION X5 allows five independent experiments to be performed in parallel on separate flow cells. This technology is unique and the GridION X5 device, as well as associated flow cells and sample preparation reagents and kits are manufactured and made available exclusively by Oxford Nanopore Technologies.

This acquisition is being conducted under the authority of the FAR Subpart 13.106-1(b)(i) allowing the Contracting Officer (CO) to solicit from one source.
The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516 with a small business standard size of 1,000 employees.
