Description of Requirement: The Contractor shall furnish all services, labor, equipment, supplies, tools and incidentals necessary to perform vibracore sampling, development of drilling logs, laboratory testing of soils, and other services as specified herein.  A total of 175 vibracore borings are to be drilled within Lockwoods Folly Inlet (Figure 1), the ebb-tidal shoal of Shallotte Inlet (Figure 2), and in Long Bay, offshore of Holden Beach, NC (Figure 3). The borings offshore of Holden Beach shall be drilled in three phases, as described below in “Statement of Services.” Within the offshore investigation area, the ocean floor elevation ranges from about -29 ft. to -38 ft. MLLW. Vibracore locations denoted within this Scope of Work (SOW) were designated based on previous coring data, recent bathymetric surveys and historical State and Federal geologic mapping.  The results from this subsurface investigation will be utilized to locate beach compatible sand and offshore borrow areas to determine the feasibility of initiating a Coastal Storm Risk Management (CSRM) Project for the Town of Holden Beach.
