About this opportunity

The USDA Agricultural Research Service is seeking to procure a Bioreactor Control Bench-Scale Fermentor System, specifically an Eppendorf BioFlo 120, Advanced, 20 SLPM, Type B system or comparable equipment. The procurement includes two complete systems along with associated components such as vessel connection kits, motor assemblies, pH sensors, heat blankets, gas regulators, and startup assistance with on-site training. The government requires delivery within 30 days after receipt of order and has established specific technical requirements for compatibility with existing 1L vessels, remote monitoring capabilities, pH control, oxygen monitoring, and integrated touchscreen functionality. Quotes will be evaluated based on price and technical capability of the proposed product, with the government anticipating award of a firm fixed-price contract to the vendor providing the best value. The deadline for submitting quotes is September 15, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. ET, and all correspondence must include the solicitation number 1232SA25Q0246 in the subject line to ensure proper consideration.

This solicitation is designated as a small business set-aside under NAICS code 334516 (Analytical Equipment Manufacturing) with a size standard of 1,000 employees, meaning only qualifying small businesses are eligible to compete. No incumbent contractors are mentioned in the solicitation documents. While specific budget amounts are not disclosed, the procurement involves purchasing two complete bioreactor systems with comprehensive accessories and support services, suggesting a significant investment in laboratory equipment. The delivery timeline is constrained to 30 days after order receipt, indicating an urgent operational need for the equipment. Performance will take place at the USDA facility in College Station, Texas, though there appears to be some inconsistency in the documentation as one file references delivery to Ames, Iowa, which may indicate multiple delivery locations or an error in the documentation.
