Stabilization of county roads and drainage ways in Shelby County, TX. Storms and hurricanes cause catastrophic damage to county roads and drainage ways in Shelby County. Stabilization of crossings by the following methods: constructing timber headwalls to protect the roads from erosion caused by turbulence at the inlet and outlets of culverts; placing rock riprap armoring and sand-cement bags along the edges of roads to protect the road banks and surface from erosion during overtopping events; and placing rock armor along stream banks and drainage ditches to protect county rods from channel erosion.
