Project Title: EATON Powerware UPS Batteries and Installation

NIST's present inventory of EATON Powerware systems are all equipped with attached battery enclosures. These enclosures provide an efficient means of installation via space reduction and a significant reduction in complex wiring. The space within these battery cabinets were custom made to specifically accommodate Powerware batteries only, therefore third-party batteries would not be suitable for the existing EATON UPS systems. Additionally, there is not any floor space - which would be required, to support the storage of third-party batteries inside external battery racks, a means breaker and wiring to facilitate this change.

Also of importance is the need for a warranty on all EATON batteries and maintenance services. EATON will only provide a parts and labor warranty on its batteries if purchased from an EATON Authorized Power Specialist (EAPS) and installed by an EATON OEM certified mechanic.

NIST intends to award a sole source purchase order to Chesapeake Mission Critical for EATON batteries, installation and maintenance services, under the FAR Authority Part 6 302-1, 41 USC 3304(a)(1) - only one responsible source. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 238210 - Electrical Contractors and Other Wiring Installation Contractors; the Small Business Size Standard is $15.0M.
