BACKGROUND

NCI/NIH, CCR/LRBGE Optical Microscopy Core (OMC) requires the upgrade to the existing system DV Elite s/n 84829, NIH # 02007816. The upgrade consists of a new generation sCMOS camera head (DV sCMOS 4.2) that will substantially improve the quality of multicolor images stained with specific fluorescent probes, their resolution, their signal to noise ratio and reduce photobleaching and photodamage. The upgrade also includes the software SoftWoRx upgrade to maintain compatibility of the new camera with existing system. The existing DV Elite is a sophisticated wide-field microscope capable of deconvolution, which allows it to acquire images compatible in quality with confocal images, but with less photobleaching and photodamage. As the new camera has significantly higher quantum efficiency (increase from 54% to 82%!), this upgrade will allow users of the OMC to significantly increase image quality, to reduce photodamage and photobleaching further, and because of these improvements to obtain new information about multiple factors and processes involved in cancer development, immune response, infection response, and pathogenesis. This upgrade is essential to the mission of NIH/NCI.

SPECIAL ORDER REQUIREMENTS

PRODUCT FEATURES/SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS

This upgrade has to be compatible with the existing system that is under the service contract from GE Healthcare. First, it has to be compatible with hardware of the DV Elite and thus it has to be a camera tested by GE Healthcare for DV Elite upgrades. Second, as the existing DV Elite system is controlled by proprietary software SoftWoRX, the camera has to be compatible with this software, which is ensured by the proprietary software upgrade included in the upgrade package. The GE Healthcare / Delta Vision is the only company that produces, sells and services the unique deconvolution system DV Elite. This particular camera includes proprietary customer firmware and software to interface with the existing DV microscope. Camera will be installed and aligned by GE Healthcare personnel.
The following product features/characteristics are required for this requirement:

• Image sensor sCMOS
• Chip size 2040 x 2040
• Sensor size 13.3 x 13.3, 18.8 (diagonal)
• Piel size (mkm) 6.5 x 6.5
• Readout speed (MHz) 272.3
• Cooling +5 C air-cooled Peltier
• Dynamic range 16 bit
• Spectral range (nm) 370 to 1100
• Quantum efficiency Up to 82%
• Full well capacity 30 000 e-
• Read out noise (median / rms) 0.9 / 1.4
• Proprietary software and firmware for compatibility with existing DV Elite
