About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure two units of a specific magnetic contactor (NSN 1H-6110-014402566-X3) with Technical Data Package Version 004. The contract will require delivery to two DLA Distribution locations in New Cumberland, PA and Tracy, CA. This pre-solicitation notice indicates the government intends to negotiate with only one source under FAR 6.302-1, though all responsible sources may identify their interest and capability to respond within 45 days of publication (or 30 days if awarded under an existing Basic Ordering Agreement). The government has determined it is uneconomical to purchase data rights or reverse engineer the part, which limits potential competitive sourcing. Interested parties can obtain relevant specifications and standards through the DoD Single Stock Point's Document Automation and Production Service, with most documents available through ASSIST-Online.
The pre-solicitation notice does not indicate a specific set-aside designation, and no incumbent contractors are mentioned. While specific award values are not provided, the procurement is for electrical control equipment in the PSC Category 6110. The quantity is explicitly stated as two units, with delivery specified to two separate military distribution centers. Potential vendors have 15 days to identify their capability to satisfy the requirement with a commercial item, and all proposals received within the specified timeframe will be considered. The government retains sole discretion in determining whether to compete the proposed contract, and market research suggests they will not utilize FAR Part 12 policies for commercial item acquisition in this solicitation.
