About this opportunity

The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking procurement of ball bearings (NSN 3H-3110-009910943-NT) through this pre-solicitation notice. This acquisition requires engineering source approval from the design control activity to maintain part quality, as the qualified source(s) possess unique design capabilities, engineering expertise, and manufacturing knowledge that are not readily available elsewhere and are essential to sustaining part quality. Prospective suppliers must qualify according to the design control activity's procedures and obtain approval from the cognizant Government engineering activity overseeing the part's intended application. The pre-solicitation was posted on November 7, 2025, with a response deadline of February 27, 2026, providing interested parties approximately 112 days to prepare their submissions. Technical documentation and specifications can be accessed through ASSIST-Online or obtained from the DoD Single Stock Point in Philadelphia by contacting the ASSIST Help Desk or visiting the DODSSP website.

This procurement involves no set-aside designations and carries a quantity requirement of 157 units with delivery on an FOB Origin basis. The notice does not identify any current contractors or incumbents, nor does it disclose anticipated award values or budget ranges for this acquisition. The requirement for engineering source approval and design control activity qualification presents a significant barrier to entry, effectively limiting competition to suppliers with demonstrated expertise in this specific bearing application. Potential bidders should begin assembling the necessary technical qualifications and coordination with Government engineering personnel well in advance of the February 27, 2026 deadline to ensure compliance with all approval requirements.
