About this opportunity

The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure 48 ball bearings (NSN 3H-3110-009910918-NT) with a specific technical design package (TDP VER 006). This procurement requires engineering source approval from the design control activity to maintain part quality, emphasizing the need for specialized manufacturing and engineering expertise. The contract involves acquiring or repairing parts from approved sources who possess unique design capabilities and technical data rights. Potential vendors must qualify through procedures approved by the cognizant Government engineering activity, which will involve a rigorous qualification process. The pre-solicitation notice was posted on May 9, 2025, with responses due by June 11, 2025, and interested parties can obtain technical specifications through the DoD Single Stock Point (DODSSP) using ASSIST-Online or by contacting their help desk.

The procurement does not have a specific small business set-aside designation, indicating it is open to all qualified vendors. The quantity is fixed at 48 units, with delivery specified as FOB Origin, suggesting the government expects the contractor to handle initial transportation costs. While no specific award value is mentioned, the complexity of the engineering requirements and source approval process suggests this is a specialized procurement with potential for a significant contract value. Vendors will need to demonstrate extensive technical capabilities in bearing manufacturing and be able to meet the stringent qualification procedures outlined by the naval engineering activity. Interested parties can access additional documentation through the DODSSP website or by contacting their help desk in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with multiple communication channels available for document and specification requests.
