About this opportunity
The Department of Homeland Security US Coast Guard has issued a Limited / Sole Source Justification Notice for the procurement of a Gardner Denver air compressor motor (model number ZS1123293) for the Aviation Logistics Center's Twist Air system. The motor has completely failed after multiple troubleshooting attempts by Base FED electricians, resulting in a Casualty Report (CASREP) situation that has reduced blasting operations to 70% production capacity. The urgency of restoring full operational capabilities justified the procurement using Simplified Acquisition Procedures under 10 U.S.C. 3204(a)(1) and (a)(2), specifically citing "Only One Responsible Source" and "Unusual and Compelling Urgency" as justification types. The contract (70Z08125PELIZ0061) was awarded on February 27, 2025, with Base FED personnel set to perform the motor installation as a material-only purchase. While the exact award amount was not specified, the purchase request number is 31030PR250000069, and the procurement falls under the Industrial Machinery and Equipment Merchant Wholesalers NAICS category.
Notice text
The motor for the Twist Air system has burned up and is no longer operational and therefore requires replacement. Base FED electricians have attempted troubleshooting the motor as well as having the motor tested at a local vendor. All efforts have been exhausted and the motor is still no longer operational. Base FED can complete the motor swap out in-house as such this is a material purchase only. This is a CASREP and therefore we are experiencing severe degradation of mission capability. ALC blasting operations are operating at a 70% production capacity due to Twist Air not being operational. ALC is only relying on Main Air and therefore can’t meet 100% production capacity.
Awarded contract 70Z08125PELIZ0061 to unknown vendor for unknown amount on 2025-02-27.
