About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure 18 electro-mechanical actuators with National Stock Number 7R-1680-014977142-KB, specifically requiring engineering source approval for this flight-critical component. The solicitation emphasizes the need for qualified sources with unique design capabilities, engineering skills, and manufacturing/repair knowledge essential to maintaining part quality. Potential suppliers must submit comprehensive technical data through the NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support Source Approval Information Brochures, with proposals due by March 27, 2025. The government intends to negotiate with a limited number of sources under FAR 6.302-1 authority, and all proposals received within 45 days of publication will be considered. Evaluation will focus on meeting specific qualification requirements, with award contingent upon the offeror, product/service, and manufacturer meeting those standards at the time of contract award.
This pre-solicitation notice does not indicate a specific set-aside for small businesses or disadvantaged vendors. While the exact award value is not specified, the procurement involves 18 units of a specialized aircraft component. The solicitation allows all responsible sources to demonstrate interest and capability, though the government retains discretion in determining competitive procurement. Suppliers must provide detailed technical documentation and demonstrate approval from the design control activity, with the qualification process potentially being time-sensitive to meet fleet support needs. The procurement is categorized under PSC 1680 for Miscellaneous Aircraft Accessories and Components, suggesting a specialized and technically complex acquisition process that requires significant technical expertise and prior government approval.
