About this opportunity

The USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) in Ames, Iowa is procuring a Single-Cell Partitioning Instrument and Sequencing Library Prep Kits through Request for Quotation (RFQ) 1232SA25Q0165. The procurement specifically seeks a 10x Genomics Chromium X system or comparable equipment for research related to a recent Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza outbreak, with the instrument to be used in a Biosafety Level-3 (BSL3) laboratory environment. Vendors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) and provide their UEI number along with technical capabilities demonstrating their equipment can meet minimum functional and performance specifications. The government will evaluate quotes based on price and technical capability, awarding a firm fixed-price contract to the vendor that meets requirements at the lowest cost. The original quote submission deadline was August 7, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. ET, with quotes required to remain valid for at least 60 days.

This procurement is designated as a small business set-aside under NAICS code 334516 (Analytical Equipment Manufacturing) with a size standard of 1,000 employees. The specific requirements include one Chromium X & Accessory Kit with 12-month warranty, one Dual Index Kit TT Set A (96 reactions), three GEM-X Universal 3' Gene Expression v4 kits (16 samples each), and three Chromium GEM-X Single Cell 3' Chip Kit v4 (4 chips each). The government requires delivery within 30 days after receipt of order (ARO), though vendors must include their proposed delivery schedule in their quotations. Contract performance will take place at the USDA-ARS facility in Ames, Iowa, where the equipment will be used to generate single-cell partitions and capture molecular readouts of cell activity across multiple dimensions. While no specific award value is disclosed, this appears to be a specialized scientific equipment procurement likely valued in the hundreds of thousands of dollars range given the advanced genomic instrumentation involved.
