MEMORANDUM FOR DIRECTORATE OF CONTRACTING
SUBJECT: SPECIFICATIONS FOR BENCHTOP POWER SUPPLIES
1. This document provides the minimum acceptable requirements for benchtop power supplies for two basic electrical engineering laboratories.
2. No specific vendor is required as long as the specifications listed in this document are met. Datasheets for acceptable models (Keysight Technologies E36313A and N8737A) are attached.
3. Purpose: The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science supports and maintains electrical engineering laboratories as a core requirement for educating and graduating ABET accredited electrical engineers. The acquisition benchtop power supplies, as a lifecycle replacement of existing equipment, ensures that the electrical engineering laboratories are meeting educational requirements.
4. Benchtop power supply descriptions The labs require forty (40) triple output DC power supplies with the following minimum specifications:
1. 160 Watt power output
2. Three fully independent DC outputs:
a. Output 1: 0-6V adjustable, 10 A output.
b. Output 2: 0-25V adjustable, 2A, electrically isolated output.
c. Output 3: 0-25V adjustable, 2A, electrically isolated output.
d. 0-25V outputs capable of automatic series or parallel connections to increase voltage or current output capability.
e. 0.03% +3mV/0.05% + 4mA (Output 1), 0.03% +5mV/0.04% +3mA (Outputs 2, 3) programming accuracy
f. 0.04% +2mV/0.05% + 5mA (Output 1), 0.03% + 5mV/0.04% + 3mA (Outputs 2, 3) readback accuracy
3. Front and rear output terminals.
4. Individual voltage and current knobs.
5. Weight shall not exceed 10kg.
6. 115 VAC 60Hz AC input
7. USB 2.0 (or better) and LAN interface.
8. Data logging and output sequencing.
9. Two and four wire remote sensing.
10. Over voltage protection, over current protection and over temperature protection.
11. 4.3” color LCD screen displaying power supply output and set points (all three channels simultaneously).
12. Compatible with BenchVue software for pedagogical purposes (currently licensed and used in the electrical engineering labs). Specifically, BenchVue is used for remote control, data acquisition, data logging, screenshot capture, and to automate power supply operation.
The labs require six (6) single output DC power supplies with the following minimum specifications:
13. 3300 Watt power output.
14. DC output:
a. One channel: 0-60V DC, 55A output.
b. Programming accuracy: voltage (0.05% + 30mV)
c. Programming accuracy: current (0.1% +110mA)
d. Measurement accuracy: voltage (0.1% +80mV)
e. Measurement accuracy: current (0.1% +165mA)
15. 100 VAC to 240 VAC input voltage.
16. Over voltage, over current and over temperature protection.
17. Remote programming via USB 2.0 and Ethernet interface with SCPI command set.
18. Front panel knobs and displays for voltage and current.
19. Capability to connect supplies in series and parallel configurations.
20. Analog programming of output voltage and current.
21. Rear output terminals.
22. Compatible with BenchVue software for pedagogical purposes (currently licensed and used in the electrical engineering labs). Specifically, BenchVue is used for remote control, data acquisition, data logging, screenshot capture, and to automate power supply operation.
5. Operation and Maintenance Manuals Physical or electronic equipment operation and maintenance manuals should be provided with each power supply.
6. If allowed, existing equipment is available for trade-in discounts.
